Restoration: Example 2
The Caucasian Kazak shown below has significant damage (most likely a mouse or a dog). Along the side wear damage also needed repair. The missing area on the corner required complete reconstruction of the missing foundation and securing the new foundation within the existing areas of the rug. Once the foundation is rewoven from scratch, the appropriate wool can be selected and dyed to match the wool in the rug. Reknotting/repiling is completed. The new pile is then clipped down to match the adjacent wool. The pile is then steamed and the restoration is complete. The small worn area on the side required similar attention. Repair.
Day-to-day use and abuse always results in regular maintainance and repair. Some typical repairs are detailed below: rough ends, fringes, unravelling sides, kicked-up corners, and that small spot the dog chewed or the cat clawed while you were out. Shaneybrook services all of these repairs and more.
Other restoration examples.
When abuse or damage exceeds the capabilities of more simple repairs, restoration is available. The nature of restoration projects demands a more individual assessment for the needs of your rug or carpet. A member of our conservation team can provide you with the best options and a plan for any restoration project.
