Reproduction William Morris "Tulip & Lily" Wilton, Philadelphia Hardwick & Magee "Japanese Forest" Wilton.
A beautiful collection of period and reproduction wilton rugs completes the charm of this fine Maryland country home.
The main rooms feature differing oriental patterns from all over the world. The central hall features a gorgeous and dramatic "Japanese Forest" pattern from the Shaneybrook collection. The stairs and upstairs hallway are covered with historic reproduction carpet of the William Morris "Tulip and Lily" pattern.
The installation of this presented some unique difficulties as the stairs are interrupted two-thirds of the way up by a landing and at the top by a hallway which takes a 90 degree turn. Instead of following the modern method of ending the carpet and starting again in a different direction, we chose the historically accurate method of a 45 degree diagonal mitre at each turn of the steps and the hallway.
